Souled Out

HEADLINER:

Souled Out: "Motown and More" is a 10 piece musical ensemble that specializes in the great Motown and Soul sounds. The group weaves its way through the Motown and 70's soul eras with authentic choreographed dance routines and outstanding musicianship. Not only is Souled Out a sensational listening and dancing experience, it is an awesome visual one as well!

Inspired by the original groups such as the Four Tops, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, The Spinners, Earth, Wind and Fire, the Commodores, and Tower of Power, Souled Out delivers each performance just like the real thing! With impeccable musicality and spirit, the Soul Legends shine through with this stylish and fun show. The group is the ultimate in music nostalgia bringing the biggest and most memorable hits from these beloved Motown and Soul Legends. Souled Out entertains in a way that both wows audiences and captures their hearts all over again.

Seven Nations

HEADLINER:

The name refers to the seven nations of the Celtic world, now known as Scotland, Ireland, Whales, Cornwell, Isle of Man, Brittany and Galacia, a part of Spain.

Calle Sur

Joint performances by Latin Ensembles "Calle Sur" and "Los LLaneros" - (4) performances.

Calle Sur performs a large variety of Latin American musical styles from ethnic to contemporary, covering most regions of Latin America. This charismatic Panamanian-Colombian duo uses numerous instruments, languages and musical styles to convey the vast cultural diversity which characterizes Latin America. Karin Stein (Colombian) grew up on a remote cattle and rice farm, while her partner, Ed East (Panamanian) was raised in Panama City. Their contrasting experiences enriches their musical renditions. Karin's voice has earned her praise from numerous sources, including Costa Rican President and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Dr. Oscar Arias Sanchez, who noted: "I'd like nothing better than to make her a citizen of this country just to claim that voice as ours."

Los Llaneros

Los Llaneros

Joint performances by Latin Ensembles "Calle Sur" and "Los LLaneros" - (4) performances.

Exuberant music of the Llanos will fill the air. With voices, harps, maracas, and guitars, Los Llaneros will perform cowboy songs of the savanna of Colombia and Venezuela. The music is filled with intricate rhythmic exchanges among the instruments and virtuoso techniques, and the themes of the songs revolve around love, nature, and the simple yet rich life of the people of the Colombian-Venezuelan grasslands - a type of music rarely heard outside the Llanos, and thus one of Latin America's best kept secrets. Los Llaneros have won several international awards for their outstanding musicianship and compositions. They will share the concert stage with Latin duo Calle Sur in four concerts. The two ensembles will complement each other to provide a full spectrum of joyful Latin folk music.

Flippin Out

Flippen Out Extreme Trampoline Show

This is one of First Night's most popular shows. It features some of North America's best athletes. Back for the third time by popular demand, the show has added a new twist to the performance. Experience the Amazing trampoline Wall. The athletes run up the wall like Spider Man and do crazy flips off this wall, it's roof and also do with with snowboards.

Taikoza

Taikoza - Japanese Festival Drums

  
Middle School Gym; 9:15pm, 10:15pm, & 11:15pm

This group personifies power, grace, pulse and driving rhythm. The electrifying aural and visual display consists of three drummers and a dancer. The huge taiko drums were originally used in Japan to drive away evil spirits and the plague. Today they keep audiences glued to their seats. Taikoza draws from Japan's rich tradition of musical performance to create a new sound using a variety of instruments. The combination of drums, shakujachi and fue (bamboo flutes) and the koto (a 13 string instrument) is a rare and unforgettable treat for American ears.

The Pirates of Penzance: of The Slave of Duty presented by the Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Chester County

    
The Baptist Church Sanctuary; 6:15pm & 7:45pm

It's 1875. The Major General's daughters, frolicking on the beach, are pounced upon by the infamous Pirates of Penzance. Poor apprenticed Frederick falls instantly in love with Mabel but finds, to his horror that he cannot leave his band to marry her until 1944. The police are brought out and chaos finally resolves their plight. The magical combination of sillinses and beautiful music that is Gilbert and Sullivan is presented in an abridged version for the delight of the whole family.

Caryn Lin: An Electric Violinist for the Space Age

Christian Science Church; 7pm & 10pm

Miss Lin returns to our stage after garnering many new fans. She plays her 5 string electric violin and uses sound effects and looping to create short on the spot recordings of her violin, voice, percussion instruments, and other sounds. Layers of sound over deceptively simple melodies result in music that is both other worldly and totally catchy: mesmerizing and completely unique! It is eclectic, combining New Age, World, classical-ish and Rock seamlessly. Join Caryn and see why she thinks of it as Electric Violin, Virtual Orchestra.

6th year. Mr. Westfall presents songs of the season, old favorites and his own memorable pieces to legions of loyal fans. For those of you who have not heard Christopher Westfall, he has been compared to John Denver. His pure, clear voice and uplifting songs render his music nothing less than a journey of spirit. He also may surprise you with a little James Taylor, or Gordon Lightfoot. Christopher Westfall is a minstrel of our time. Make sure to hear this talented troubadour.

Yonca and Robert Pallies

After charming audiences last year this vocal and keyboard duo have been invited back to perform jazz standards with a large helping of pop and Latin. Yonca was a young singing sensation in her native Turkey where she won a national singing contest like American Idol. She performed throughout Europe and the US. Most recently Yonca and Robert have performed as opening act for the Manhattan Transfer at the Keswick Theater. Yonca now resides in Haddonfield.

Philadelphia’s Studio Incamminati exists to meet the needs of students eager to learn the aesthetic and philosophical principles of humanist realism and the techniques espoused by Founder and Artistic Director Nelson Shanks.  Modeled on the traditional Italian accademia and French atelier, it provides a dynamic teaching program to produce highly skilled artists who can call upon their abilities to create art with depth of purpose.  Don’t miss this opportunity to see a selection of their work in our local Gallery during the Closing Night of the exhibit.  Live music provided and Espresso Bar on premises.   www.studioincamminati.org

The Indian King Tavern Museum, a 250 year old historic building (and the first historic building that NJ purchased as a museum), is where New Jersey became a state and its great seal was adopted; it was an extremely important and busy location during tumultuous times for our country.  Many important and influential people visited this Tavern throughout history.  Visitors will be time-travelers as they listen to and talk with docents who will be dressed in historic garb and relating accurate information on the Tavern and its times.  www.indiankingfriends.org

Sweet Namaste is the dynamic energy and magical duo of singer/songwriter Sue Bailey and instrumentalist Robin Cohen. They are a unique musical mix...with Sue on guitar & vocals and Robin on mandolin, guitar & harmonica. A typical Sweet Namaste show features a diverse repertoire: original music by Haddonfield native Sue Bailey, spiced with storytelling and humor, and rounded out with select covers of artists such as Bonnie Raitt, Cheryl Wheeler and Jonathan Edwards. Sweet Namaste's performance will make you laugh, make you cry, make you think... and will definitely leave you wanting more.
